I am a Mother of 3 Children who enjoys running, going to the gym, mountain bike riding, water skiing, snow skiing and various other physical activities. You will find me spending time with my family in the outdoors and running around after children's sport during the week and on the weekends.
I love my job here at Xavier because of the variety of tasks I get to carry out and I take great pride in being able to help the staff, students and their families. I was a Hairdresser and Beauty therapist for 12 years and had my own salon for 5 of the years however had to give it up due to medical reasons. I travelled and lived overseas for a couple of years where I started my HR Career and then relocated back to Australia to take on a Role as HR Officer and later was promoted to Manager at Narrandera Shire Council. During my time as HR Officer I completed a double Degree in Business Management and Human Resources Management. As a qualified Personal Trainer, during my spare time I ran group fitness sessions for the Narrandera Community and had my own Gym. We moved to Albury 4 Years ago when my husband was transferred here for work. We have grown to love Albury and all it has to offer. My favorite saying is 'It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings' My other favorite saying is " if it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you"
Kool Skools Recording Day in Melbourne – August 2nd
Last week, 6 Xavier students hopped on a bus with our friends from Albury High and drove to Melbourne, where we took part in the KoolSkools Recording Project. KoolSkools allows for young musicians to record their tunes in a professional recording studio (Studio 52) in Melbourne, and to have their songs released on an album for the public to purchase and enjoy. Following this, the songs are judged and a lucky few are selected to receive awards for a number of categories. This was my third consecutive year recording at the studios, and it only gets better and better - I can’t wait for everyone to hear our music! A massive thanks to Mrs. Files and Mandy Wilson from the Albury City Council!
A report from year 11 student – Jack Woodman
I had the pleasure of accompanying a group of Year 7 and 9 students to the Albury Eisteddfod, where we took part in the debating competition.
The students participated in three debates which included topics such as “Halloween should not be celebrated in Australia”, “The Victims of Crime should have a say in how criminals are punished” and “The minimum wage should apply to everyone”. Xavier competed against St Pauls, Albury High, Scots and Trinity. Whilst we did not win the competition, we secured wins in several debates. More importantly, it was fantastic to see our students represent the school in such a positive and confident manner. As the day progressed, it was apparent that the students were learning new skills and implementing them in later debates. Thank-you to Ms Lawrence for the time and effort she put into organising the teams and helping them prepare for the debate.

This week a group of Year 7 students visited Sacred Heart Church Albury. See their account below.
On Monday Year 7 visited North Albury's Sacred Heart Church. The purpose of our trip was to gain a deeper understanding on the meaning of a church and why Sacred Heart is a sacred place. Churches are places of worship and praise. People go to church to seek Gods guidance and feel Gods presence. There are many sacred objects that symbolise Gods presence, such as the crucifix, the stained glass windows and the Tabernacle. In conclusion, we learnt that the church is sacred because it is a physical reminder that God is with us, as well as a place for celebration and prayer.
Maddy - 7.3
On the 6th of August 2018 my class visited Sacred Heart Church in North Albury as we are focusing on "Sacred time and Place" as a unit of work. Sacred Heart Church is a sacred place for the Catholic community where people connect with God through worship and prayer. The church provides a space for people to come together for special events such as Baptisms, weddings, first communion, funerals and much more. Inside the church there are a number of ways that help us to recognise that God is present and with us. The crucifix is a powerful symbol that reminds us that Jesus died on the cross to redeem humanity. It reminds us of sacrifice, commitment, redemption and love. Candles are used in the church to represent Chris,t who is seen as the light of the world that shines in darkness. There are many other aspects of the church that recognise Gods presence. What makes Sacred Heart church as sacred place for me is that it is a quiet place that allows me to reflect on God and his love for all of us.
Jack - 7.2
Yesterday the Xavier High School Year 7 students visited the beautiful Sacred Heart Church in North Albury. We visited Sacred Heart as part of the topic, Sacred Place and Time. Father Martin explained important things in the Church to us. This experience has enhanced our knowledge of the Church and why it is sacred. Sacred Heart is a beautiful, unique and sacred place. It has exquisite stained glass windows on the walls and wonderful pictures enhancing the sacred feeling of the Church. The golden tabernacle and the natural light shining down on it reminds us of Jesus' presence and that we are in a sacred place. The grand crucifix hanging from the roof reminds us of the greatest act of love. All of these contributed to the Sacred Heart Church being sacred. I can't wait to visit the Sacred Heart Church again. I have gained a lot of knowledge from this experience.

Could $500 help you with High School costs?
Parents have just spent their hard earned money on winter uniforms and winter sports fees and soon enough will be paying for summer registrations, or final payments on their school camps. Saver Plus is looking to assist those families that are eligible, and in turn your schools with the same out of pocket costs next year.
The circumstances of the Church in Australia in our time
including the patterns of change that are evident within the community of the church, the issues confronting the Church…the increase in entrusting responsibility for and leadership of the Church’s mission to laity, and even the changing face of the Episcopate prompt the church to review, analyse, and discern the signs of the times , to listen anew to the Spirit, and to chart its course into the future.
