We are at the end of another academic year here at Xavier.
2018 has been another massive year in the life of the school, made more significant by the 150th anniversary celebrations of the arrival of the Sisters of Mercy here in 1868.
Over the year there has been lots of highlights for us all. Regular activities - swimming and athletics carnivals, retreats, camps, cultural exchanges and the list goes on. One big highlight for me this year was being part of last week’s Xavier Day celebrations. The colour run at the end of the day was a great celebration of our school community. Our staff and students enjoyed every moment of a great activity.
Another highlight was the celebrations that centered around the retirement of Peter Robinson after 48 years of teaching. Over the last ten days we have had some wonderful celebrations to recognise Peter’s great contribution to Catholic education in Albury and to generations of students.
We farewell and congratulate our Class of 2018 on their HSC results. We wish them all the best on their opportunities as they begin their new pathways - whether that be tertiary, TAFE, employment. We also prepare to welcome our new Year 7 students next year and look forward to meeting them and their families.
I would like to thank our staff for a wonderful year. They have contributed in many ways to make our school great. I thank them very much for their continued dedication, support and generosity in making our school the place that it is.
To everyone have a lovely, holy and peace filled Christmas and New Year. I look forward to catching up with you again in 2019.
