This week has been another busy week at Xavier. Our Year 7 students were involved in workshop sessions about the appropriate use of technology.
hese students looked at their moral responsibility and the importance of respecting themselves and others when using technology. They also learnt about the legal implications of inappropriate use of technology, the importance of digital privacy and what to do if they are placed in a difficult situation online. I encourage families to continue engaging in conversations about online safety and the appropriate use of technology with their children. There are a range of online resources available to assist you with these conversations:

On Tuesday our Year 10 students and parents had the opportunity to meet with our KLA's to discuss Subject Selection for Stage 6 2021. I hope these sessions were beneficial and will help you make informed decisions regarding your subject choices. Please remember we also have awebsiteavailable with a range of information and presentations on Stage 6 2021 Subject Selections.
Yesterday a letter was sent out to parents of Year 7-11 students updating them on the changes to our Year 7-11 school reports for the midcourse reporting period in 2020. In response to the Federal Minister for Education's decision that school reports do not need to follow their usual format we have taken the opportunity to explore a more effective way to report on student achievement. A copy of the letter that was sent out is included below and I encourage you to take time to read it to ensure you are aware of the changes we have made and why we have made them.
As we come towards the end of term I would like to update you on a number of staffing changes. This week we welcomed back Mrs Erin Monte from parental leave. Mrs Monte returns to the MacKillop House Coordinator role which she will share with Ms Amy Martin. On behalf of the Xavier community I would like to thank Ms Renee Page for joining us while Erin was on parental leave and Mrs Alison Meani for her work in the MacKillop House Coordinator role. I would also like to thank Ms Georgia Duby and Mrs Hollie Kinning who are also finishing up at the end of Term 2. We have really appreciated the commitment and support Ms Page, Mrs Kinning and Ms Duby have shown to our students during their time with us. We are fortunate that Ms Page and Ms Duby will be staying on in a casual capacity in Term 3 and I look forward to seeing them around the school next term.
Next week I will be taking some long service leave and Mrs Nicole Morton and Mrs Lorraine Willis will be acting as Principal during this week. Term 2 has been another big term and I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated through significant changes to school operations over the past few months. I hope everyone can take some time to refresh and recharge over the upcoming term break and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday 20 July for the start of Term 3.
