The truth will set you free

Term 4 Issue 4 2021

Message from Mr Gavin Dykes

Gavin Dykes, Principal

This week saw us welcome the first group of our Year 7 2022 students to our school for their orientation. This year we have had to run Year 7 2022 orientation over a number of days to be compliant with covid restrictions. Our Year 7 2022 orientation is designed to give our future students some insight and familiarity with our school, this includes meeting some of our teachers and becoming more comfortable in our school grounds. Despite the wet weather it was  great to see so much excitement and enthusiasm from our future Year 7’s. I look forward to meeting more students from this cohort in the coming weeks.

Year 10 Formal - Friday 26th November

This week our Year 10 students have been busy fine tuning their dance moves in preparation for their Formal.  I have been able to watch a few of the  rehearsals from my office and they are looking great! Covid restrictions and the weather have presented a number of challenges to the staff coordinating this event but their hard work and adaptability over the past week will make it a great event that I am sure our Year 10’s will really enjoy.

Creative and Performing Arts Centre - Construction update

I am pleased to announce the upgrade to our Creative and Performing Arts Centre (CAPA) is very close to being completed. We have included some photos below so you can see how this space has been transformed. The original large centre has been divided into four rooms. Including retaining the drama space complete with stage area, digital screens and audio/visual recording capabilities. The remaining rooms now have new fixed cabinetry to provide much needed added storage.

Our new stadium is also very close to being finished. I have had a few sneak peaks and it really is an impressive building that our staff, students and community are going to love being in. I can’t wait until we can open it up and share it with you all.

Well done to our Year 12 students

Over the past few weeks our Year 12 students have been sitting their HSC Exams. Happily, our first group of students have completed their last ever school exam. After such a long and challenging year it has been wonderful to see how positively our students approached these exams and the smiles on the faces of those who have finished really says it all!  For those who still have an exam to sit, I encourage you to make the most of your final few days of study and I wish you all the very best for your last exam.

REMINDER - Correct School Uniform

As we have now settled back into something more like a normal school routine students and parents are reminded of our uniform policy.

The correct uniform is to be worn at all times. As it is Term 4 students are to be wearing hats when they are outside.

Additionally, PE uniform is to be worn only on the days students are completing PE practical classes.

A reminder that short 'Champion' style shorts ARE NOT part of the current uniform.

If students are not able to wear the correct uniform they must bring a note from home to explain.

Staff will begin recording students who are out of uniform and repeat offenders will be followed up.

Emphasis was for students to take time and think about their time management and organisations skills.
