This week, we listened to those words once more at our Xavier welcome mass and meal which was celebrated for us by Father Martin and saw approximately one hundred of our parents, students and staff reflect on the place of those actions throughout our community.
When taking time to reflect on the acts of asking, seeking and knocking, it becomes clear how ever-present those are around our school.
This week, in particular, we have had students ask - in their learning, in their friendships and in their involvement at school. They have answered the needs of others - cooking meals for those less fortunate, stepping out of comfort zones to lead and guide others. We have witnessed the students seek answers to their challenges and to knock for opportunities.
Students have represented our school at Diocesan sports this week in touch and tennis, enjoying the chance to compete against schools from Wagga, Griffith and Leeton and all students finished the week by taking part in our school cross country event. Even in that, our students responded to the needs of others, offering a gold coin donation to Project Compassion for the opportunity to wear coloured clothes.
This week, staff also had an opportunity to seek and respond to a new opportunity, working with John DeCourcey to develop classroom strategies aimed at enhancing student achievement. It was a day spent in engaged and purposeful discussion and action that will, I am sure, be reflected in the classrooms in the coming weeks.
As we move quickly through our term, I take the opportunity to remind you that we are integrating the Compass system across the school as a platform for communications. There will be another parent information session showcasing the platform on Monday 18th March at 6pm in our ERC. We encourage you to come along and find out all about it.
Please also be aware that interim reports for students in Years 7 - 11 will be available on Monday from 10am. Following this, bookings for parent/teacher/ student conferences will open. Please watch for the information around bookings on Compass and schoolstream.
In closing this week, I would like to thank both students and staff for the continued enthusiasm and energy that defines our community at Xavier. It certainly makes for a joyous place to be!
