Lorraine Willis Assistant Principal - Students
Last week, I was lucky enough to attend the Secondary Mercy Schools Conference in Sydney, along with Ed Brown. It was a wonderful opportunity to re-focus on the words and works of the Mercy sisters and their foundations of our education. As this week ends, I have been reflecting on her words, “We can never say ‘it is enough’.” As we work to be the best community that we can be, that thought echoes.
It is heartening to see the underlying notion of dedication and continual striving from so many of our students and staff. We have witnessed our Year 12 students tackle their Trial HSC Examinations with dedication and commitment and they now prepare for the final weeks of their time in formal classes before the HSC period begins. Many of those students are in the midst of the completion of major projects and performance pieces for a range of their practical subjects and we look forward to seeing many of those achievements at the upcoming Showcase events.
We have seen students enjoy opportunities in Diocesan basketball and netball and our music students have taken part in the Kool Skools Program. These opportunities continue to present for our students and we are always impressed with the ways in which the students embrace these and use them to enrich their time here at Xavier.
As I write this week, the Year 12 students and the staff are about to take to the soccer field for the annual match that represents so much more than a result at the end of the day! Good luck to all involved!
We look forward to the second half of this term and all that it holds as our Year 11s look to complete their Preliminary Courses and Year 12s complete their school journey. There will be many opportunities for our parents to be involved in many of these events and occasions and I look forward to welcoming you to those.
