It has been a busy few weeks for our Year 12 students. On Wednesday 4 September the HSC Showcase evening was held with great success.
I congratulate all students who performed or presented their major projects on the night. I would also like to acknowledge the teachers who helped with this event, your support was appreciated. HSC marking for the major works in Visual Arts, Music, TAS, Drama is underway. Many hours of school time, after school and weekend hours have been dedicated by our HSC students to ensure they produce their best work and I thank the teaching staff in these subject areas who have supported our students.
The final Academic Assembly will be held for year 12 on Thursday 26 September. This assembly marks the culmination of 13 years of schooling for our HSC Class of 2019. The parents of our Year 12 students have played a significant role in supporting their sons and daughters through their years of schooling to help them achieve their best and I encourage parents of our year 12's to attend this event. Year 12 students still have a few weeks of study as they prepare for their final HSC Exams. I wish them all the best with their preparation and we should keep them in our thoughts over the next few weeks.
Our year 11's have just completed their assessment period and will now head off on their Immersion programs. Our students are leaving this weekend to Yuendumu, Eden, Moree, Santa Teresa and Barmah for what should be a powerful and enlightening social justice experience. During the week, Year 11 students will also take part in community service activities, providing them with the opportunity to provide services and assistance to the school community.
Year 7 to 10 Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews will be held on Tuesday 17 September. These interviews provide valuable feedback on your son or daughter's learning and also provide you with the opportunity to speak directly with your child's teachers. If you haven't done so already, please make your interview times through Compass.
Thursday was R U OK day. This day is a national day dedicated to reminding all of us that every day of the year is the day to ask ' Are you ok?'. Next Thursday, 19 September we will hold Footy Colours Day. Footy Colours Day is part of a national fundraising campaign to support children living with cancer continuing their education during their treatment and recovery. Students are encouraged to wear their favourite footy team colours and provide a gold coin donation on the day.
