2015 Junior CCC Basketball Carnival Report

10 September 2015

On Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th of August, our Junior Girls and Boys Basketball team traveled to Penrith to compete in the annual Combined Catholic Colleges Basketball Tournament.

The boys won four of their five pool games in a convincing fashion, going down to Edmund Rice Wollongong by 15 points in their other round game.

This performance had them finish second place in their pool and put them through to the semi-final.

The girls pool was strongly contested resulting in a three way tie. It went to a count back to decide the top two from the pool. Fortunately some big wins in previous games got the girls over the line and they commenced to the semi-final.

Both the semi-finals were hotly contested and could have gone either way. The boys played Tamworth with the game neck and neck for the duration. They went down by two points to the eventual winners of the tournament. It was a similar scenario for the girls who got off to a poor start but managed to peg it back and hit the lead. In dramatic circumstances the girls went down by two points in the dying seconds of the game.

Many thanks goes to Traci Harper for her assistance in managing the sides and scoring. Thanks also to the students who represented the school in an exemplary manner.
