Debating

17 June 2016

Last Wednesday, June 15, the girls from the Senior Debating team, Leneen Marshall, Jessica Dwyer and Helena Lethlean, ably assisted by their adviser Sarah Maloney, competed against Trinity Anglican College in the first round of the Rotary Ian Turner Debating Competition.

We argued in the Affirmative “That a compulsory second Language should be taught in Schools”. I am pleased to announce that we were successful in this debate and will move onto the second round later in the year. This marks our first successful result in debating in some time and is an excellent start in this year’s Debating calendar.

Next week our Junior debaters will be conducting a workshop with the Debating Association of Victoria, to help them in the lead up to the Eisteddfod competition in July. If your child is interested in being involved then encourage them to find Mr Hendriks to sign up.
