Drama Workshops!

15 March 2018

On Wednesday, drama students in years 10, 11, and 12 were treated to a workshop from Gabriel, a performance artist from ‘Sport for Jove’ Theatre Company who is currently starring in the production of ‘The River at the End of the Road’ at Hothouse Theatre.

Gabriel coached the drama students through a workshop centred around devising, showing them how to use their bodies, voices, facial expressions and sound to tell a story. The students used Shakespeare’s plays as inspiration for their own group-devised performances. Gabriel commented on the high quality of the performances and how creative and fearless our drama students are as artists. Mrs Blomeley, Ms Hill and Ms Crosswell were very proud!

On Thursday, the drama students got to see Gabriel and the rest of the Sport for Jove crew in action at the matinee performance of ‘River at the End of the Road’ at Hothouse Theatre. The students were able to apply the practical skills learnt in the workshop to their theoretical understanding of the performance. The students were highly engaged in the Q&A session at the end of the performance and asked some really insightful and interesting questions of the actors. Well done drama students!
