On a Musical Note – Albury Eisteddfod

Congratulations to our junior secondary choir ‘Xavier Voices’ who performed two beautiful songs in the junior secondary choral section and were awarded first place.

Our combined school choir achieved second place in their respective section by the narrowest of margins and again gave two moving performances of song selections from our recent school musical ‘Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat’. The fine performances continued with our under 16 and under 18 year’s vocal and instrumental ensembles and rock band taking awards in their respective sections.

Special mention must be made of Year 10 music student Tiana Smerdon who performed on piano in a number of instrumental sections and was simply outstanding. She achieved several first placings in her 15/16 years age group, playing baroque, classical and romantic music and was awarded intermediate piano champion of her age group. She went on to compete in the Open 15 years and over Chopin Piano Challenge playing two contrasting works by the great composer and won the championship. Congratulations Tiana!
