Relay For Life 2016

01 November 2017

On Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd of October Xavier High School participated in the Border RelayforLife in support of the Cancer Council.

Our students, staff and parents represented the team by walking laps and gaining sponsorship from family and friends to raise much needed funds for cancer patients, research and support services in Albury Wodonga. On the day our kids manned a basketball shooting stand as well to fundraise for our team which was an incredibly popular activity for all people young and old and boosted our Team fundraising tally.

The hope ceremony was a special moment for everybody in the community to come together and remember the loved ones we have lost as well as recognising the survivors of this awful disease. The Xavier school choir ‘Xavier Voices’ opened the ceremony with a beautiful rendition to ‘Tears in Heaven’. Overall we raised over $3500 in funds which included a campaign of barbeques overseen by McAuley House in Terms 2 and 3 and a donation from Miss Baines commerce class as a part of their class project.

Congratulations to all of the Xavier family who participated and contributed to the success of the Border RelayforLife being the largest in Australia, raising a total of $407,000. Well done!
