Senior Debating News

17 November 2016

On Wednesday 16 November the Xavier senior debating team competed in Round 3 of the local Rotary Debating competition.

Representing the school were Sarah Maloney, Helene Lethlean, Leneen Marshall and Jessica Dwyer. The ladies argued a strong case in the affirmative for the somewhat ironic topic “That private schools create division in society.” Despite their strong speaking skills and presenting a coherent team case, unfortunately the debate was awarded to the opposition, just missing out on making it to the grand final. This is the furthest our senior debating team has made it in this competition, so the team is to be congratulated for the excellent success. The team is excited about helping to kickstart debating here at Xavier and leading the school in 2017 to generate more enthusiasm and success in the school. These girls and all our debaters from 2016 are sure to achieve great things for Xavier debating in 2017.

Congratulations must go to all our debaters and Mr Hendriks for making sure these excellent opportunities occur for our students.
