Year 8 short documentary project awards

10 December 2014

This term every Year 8 English student participated and produced a short documentary as part of a term-long project.

Students wrote, filmed, edited and finally presented short films based on topics of their own choosing. This is the third year we have run this project and once again we were amazed at the originality and creativity of our students. A “showcase” was held on 9 December, in which the six finalists were shown to all Year 7 & 8 students. Each film was very well received by all. While it was a challenge for us teachers to decide on the winners, we are happy to announce the following award winners. Congratulations to all Year 8 students for their great work.

The awards are as follows:

Best Documentary: “The Cove” by Sharna Thomas and Amelia Unthank

Best Editing: “Finding Bigfoot 3” by Campbell Westmoreland, Luke Dahl, Jayden Steinke, Tom Coster

Best Original Concept: “Mental Health” by Ebony Art & Gemma Steadman

Highly Commended: “Marine Life” by Jack Janauskas & Ella Hogan
