Year 8 Sustainability – Don’t Trash My Opinion

31 March 2017

In Year 8 English we have been learning about how visual and written texts represent issues of environmental sustainability to inform, persuade and engage us.

We have explored how texts such as posters, news reports, articles, websites, artworks and television programs use specific language techniques and structures to present different perspectives about the environment and the impacts human actions are having now, and for the future.

Students have created their own visual representations to present their view on a chosen environmental sustainability issue and have written a blog explaining the importance of the issue and how their artwork represents it. Issues students explored included plastic ocean pollution, deforestation, e-waste, climate change and the impacts of landfill.

Students have done a great job in becoming globally aware and passionate citizens, wanting to make a real difference to our future. A selection of works and blogs will be displayed for viewing in the Front Office at the school. Drop in and see the fantastic work of our Year 8 students!
