Yr 9 Excursion to Harris Scarfe

05 August 2016

On the 1st August, Year 9 retail class of Xavier High School, Albury, had the privilege to experience the retail world by visiting a number of stores, including Harris Scarfe.

Julie and her team allowed us to go behind the scenes at Harris Scarfe, Albury, to experience what it is like to operate a store. The following is an account of our experience.

Our Experiences at Harris Scarfe

As a Year 9 Retail class, we had the opportunity to go behind the scenes of Harris Scarfe and see how they operate in their store on a daily basis. Some of the many tasks they showed us where how to tag clothes, print labels, unloading fashion bags, working the registers, the store’s uniform policy, and how they monitor their store. We also able to see how to break stock down onto the relevant racks, how to complete stock recovery, and layby.

Staff demonstrated how to put EAS tags on to clothes. Students were even competing to see who could put the most EAS tags on in a minute. We also had an opportunity to experience customer service and learnt how to use their cash register (in training mode).

Thanks

We would like to thank Julie, store manager of Harris Scarfe, and her team of dedicated staff for showing us around the store and providing us with an amazing experience. We really enjoyed learning about the Harris Scarfe retail environment and experiencing ‘hands on activities’ in the store.
